WHAT IS MANAGEMENT?
In general, most new talent doesn't understand what a manager
is, is not, and when a manager is really needed. The first
thing to understand is that a manager is not an agent. The
opposite isn't always true. Particularly with
respect to the modeling industry, many agencies also double as
management companies. It is even true that in New York
City, few real agencies exist at all. Instead, there are
management companies acting in a capacity similar to an agency.
In general, the function of a manager is to assist with career
development, business counseling, and promotion. Though a
good manager will lead to more bookings and, perhaps, career
success, the responsibility for booking the job will generally
fall to the talent or the agent. The important thing to
understand is that not everyone needs a manager. Click the
links below to find out if management will help you.
